On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, Netflix commenced streaming a promotional video clip that unveiled the voices of the Scott Pilgrim anime cast for the first time. While fans had previously heard these actors in the same roles in the live-action film, this video marked their debut as voice actors in the anime adaptation.

One of the most highly anticipated aspects of the forthcoming series has been the return of the live-action actors to voice their respective characters in the anime. Up until this point, there hadn’t been much information available about the series, except for its cast, yet it has remained the dominant topic of conversation, even without a confirmed release date.

This underscores the significance of the Scott Pilgrim anime cast reprising their roles for the series‘ potential success when it premieres in mid-November 2023 on Netflix. Additionally, with the announcement of a complete staff list, fans are eagerly anticipating the next adaptation installment in Bryan Lee O’Malley’s original graphic novel franchise.

Scott Pilgrim Anime Set to Release on November 17

As mentioned earlier, the excitement among fans for a sneak peek of the Scott Pilgrim anime cast’s performance seems to have taken precedence over the release date announcement. Nevertheless, the series has officially been slated to premiere on Netflix’s platform at 12 am Pacific Standard Time on Friday, November 17, 2023. This timing aligns with Netflix’s typical release schedule and is anticipated for this release as well.

The logline for the series reads, „Scott Pilgrim encounters the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but soon discovers that he must defeat her seven evil exes to win her heart. As if that weren’t enough, things take an even more complicated turn.“

Derived from Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is both executive produced and written by O’Malley and Grabinski, who also serve as showrunners. The acclaimed animation studio Science SARU is responsible for bringing the anime to life. The esteemed list of executive producers includes Eunyoung Choi, Edgar Wright, Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff, Adam Siegel, Michael Bacall, and Nira Park.

The series will reunite the original live-action cast from the 2010 movie „Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,“ featuring Michael Cera as Scott, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, and Mark Webber as Stephen Stills. The formidable lineup of Ramona’s evil exes will once again be portrayed by Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, and Mae Whitman as Roxie.
