Over a year ago, the announcement of KonoSuba season 3, one of the most eagerly awaited anime series continuations, thrilled fans. Renowned for its humor and status as one of the top isekai shows, the series had amassed a massive following after its first two seasons and the spinoff series centered around Megumin.

While the announcement of KonoSuba season 3 came around this time last year, fans were left with meager details about the continuation. They received a key visual but practically nothing else. The most noteworthy news at that time was the transition from Studio DEEN to Studio Drive as the animation studio for the series.

However, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the highly anticipated third season of KonoSuba finally treated fans to a new key visual and a confirmed release window. Although fans had already endured a six-year wait for the third season, it appears they will have to exercise a bit more patience before witnessing Kazuma and his crew’s return to the small screen.

According to the latest visual released for KonoSuba season 3, the highly anticipated anime series is set to make its return in 2024, with Studio Drive taking charge of the animation.

The key visual, which recently surfaced online, showcases the main group of characters, including Aqua, Megumin, Darkness, and Kazuma. Aqua and Megumin exude excitement and enthusiasm as they lead the group across a picturesque field, while a concerned Darkness trails behind, calling out to them. Kazuma brings up the rear, sporting a mixture of exasperation and joy on his face.

Previously confirmed details about KonoSuba season 3 include Takaomi Kanasaki reprising his role as the chief director. Yujiro Abe is directing the series, while Makoto Uezu is once again in charge of the series composition. Koichi Kikuta returns as the character designer. The returning cast members consist of Jun Fukushima as Kazuma, Sora Amamiya as Aqua, Rie Takahashi as Megumin, and Ai Kayano as Darkness.

The mainline series premiered its first season in January 2016, followed by the second season in January 2017. Both seasons were made available internationally on Crunchyroll simultaneous with their airing in Japan. The franchise also includes The Legend of Crimson anime film, which debuted in Japan in August 2019 and was subsequently released in theaters in the United States in November 2019. Additionally, a spinoff centered around Megumin was released as part of the Spring 2023 anime season.

KonoSuba revolves around the protagonist Kazuma, who is given the opportunity to reincarnate by the goddess Aqua after dying in a traffic accident. He chooses to bring Aqua with him to a new world, where they adapt to their new lives and eventually encounter and recruit sorceress Megumin and swordswoman Darkness.
