Horimiya: The Missing Pieces Anime Unveils Theme Songs, Cast, and July 1 Premiere

On Friday, the team behind Horimiya: The Missing Pieces (Horimiya -piece-) anime presented a fresh promotional video and visual for the series. The video offers a glimpse of the anime’s theme songs, introduces a new cast member, and announces the highly anticipated premiere date of July 1st.

Here’s a look at the new Video:

Horimiya: The Missing Pieces, is set to premiere on Tokyo MX and MBS on July 1. It will also be available for streaming on AbemaTV and U-NEXT on the same day, followed by other streaming services on July 5.

Exciting news accompanies the release as the opening theme song, titled „Shiawase“ (Happiness), will be performed by Omoinotake, while Ami Sakaguchi lends her voice for the ending theme song.

Joining the talented cast is Daisuke Namikawa, who will portray Takeru Sengoku, Kakeru’s father.

Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime simultaneously as it airs in Japan, ensuring international fans won’t miss a single episode.

The anime will cover previously unadapted stories from the original manga, expanding on the narrative established in the previous adaptation.

Returning cast members include Haruka Tomatsu as Kyoko Hori, Kouki Uchiyama as Izumi Miyamura, Seiichirō Yamashita as Toru Ishikawa, Yurie Kozakai as Yuki Yoshikawa, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kakeru Sengoku, M.A.O as Remi Ayasaki, Reina Kondo as Sakura Kōno, Daiki Yamashita as Shū Iura, Jun Fukuyama as Akane Yanagi, Taku Yashiro as Kōichi Shindō, Momo Asakura as Honoka Sawada, Daisuke Ono as Kyōsuke Hori, Ai Kayano as Yuriko Hori, Yuka Terasaki as Sōta Hori, and Hisako Kanemoto as Motoko Iura.

The dedicated staff members returning for the new anime include director Masashi Ishihama, series script supervisor Takao Yoshioka, character designer Haruko Iizuka, chief animation directors Haruko Iizuka, Akira Takata, Hiromi Ogata, and Yumi Shimizu, color key artist Asuka Yokota, art directors Hisayo Usui and Yasunao Moriyasu, editor Hiroaki Kimura, director of photography Yūya Sakuma, CG director Katsuaki Miyaji, sound director Jin Aketagawa, and composer Masaru Yokoyama. Additionally, Takao Sano joins as a chief animation director for the new series.

The manga, which is published in English by Yen Press, provides the following narrative:

„At first glance, the ultra-popular Hori-san seems like a frivolous high school girl, but in reality, she’s plain, pragmatic, and family-oriented. On the other hand, the bespectacled Miyamura-kun comes across as an average, gloomy high school fanboy, but he’s actually an attractive young man who has a bad-boy streak and is covered in piercings and tattoos. When these two unexpectedly similar classmates have a random run-in outside of the classroom, a bubbly, sweet tale of school life begins!“

Daisuke Hagiwara kickstarted the Horimiya manga in 2011 within the pages of Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine. Serving as an adaptation of HERO’s Hori-san to Miyamura-kun four-panel school comedy manga, the series concluded its run in March 2021 under the supervision of HERO. Square Enix took charge of publishing the manga’s 16th and final compiled volume in July 2021, while Yen Press will release the 16th volume on May 23. To provide a satisfying conclusion, Hagiwara crafted an epilogue chapter for the manga in July 2021.

This manga venture sparked the creation of a television anime, which made its debut in Japan in February 2021. Funimation took up the mantle of streaming the anime series as it aired, presenting both the original Japanese version and an English dubbed version for fans to enjoy.
