Grisha Yeager is an important character in the Anime show Attack on Titans: The Final Season. He is the father of Eren Yeager and Zeke Yeager and the husband of Dina Fritz. Grisha is also a member of the Eldian Restorationists a group of Eldians who seek to overthrow Marley and restore their homeland of Eldia.
Grisha was born and raised in the Liberio internment zone where Eldians are forced to live as second-class citizens. As a child he was subjected to Marleyan propaganda and taught to hate his own people. However he began to question the truth behind the Marleyan narrative after he met a fellow Eldian named Fay who was brutally killed by Marleyan soldiers for accidentally wandering into a restricted area. This event had a profound impact on Grisha and made him realize the injustice of Marley’s treatment of Eldians.
Later on, Grisha met a woman named Dina Fritz whom he fell in love with and eventually married. Dina was a member of the royal family of Eldia and Grisha was initially hesitant to get involved with her due to the taboo against marrying outside of one’s own bloodline. However, their love for each other eventually overcame these concerns.
Grisha’s involvement with the Eldian Restorationists began when he met a man named Eren Kruger who was actually a spy for the Marleyan military. Eren Kruger revealed to Grisha the true history of Eldia and Marley and the two began to plan a revolution to overthrow Marley’s rule. Grisha became a member of the Eldian Restorationists and was eventually chosen to inherit the power of the Attack Titan which had been passed down through generations of Eldians.
Grisha’s mission to restore Eldia was cut short when he was captured by Marleyan soldiers and brought before their leader, a man named Willy Tybur. Willy revealed that he had obtained a powerful new weapon known as the Warhammer Titan which he intended to use to destroy Paradis Island and wipe out all Eldians there. Grisha was horrified by this revelation and begged Willy to spare his people but Willy refused and ordered his soldiers to feed Grisha to the Titans.
However before Grisha was killed he managed to pass on the power of the Attack Titan to his son Eren who witnessed the entire event. This moment had a profound impact on Eren and fueled his desire to avenge his father’s death and protect his people from Marley’s aggression.
Grisha is portrayed as a tragic figure in the series a man who was forced to confront the harsh realities of his world and fight for the survival of his people. He was torn between his love for his family and his duty to the Eldian Restorationists, and ultimately paid the price for his convictions. Despite his shortcoming Grisha’s legacy lives on through his son Eren who continues to fight for Eldia and fulfill his father’s dream of a world free from oppression.
