ISEKAI means “another world”, which is now one of the most popular genres for Japanese anime.
While information remains limited, it has been confirmed that Suicide Squad Isekai is not connected to the upcoming DC reboot helmed by Gunn and Peter Safran. Notably, George Wada, the CEO of WIT Studio, humorously urged the audience to contact Gunn and encourage him to watch the show. In an exciting development, Eri Osada, the chief animation director of Jujutsu Kaisen, has been announced as the director for Suicide Squad Isekai. Accompanying Osada’s visionary direction, Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, known for their involvement in the isekai genre through their work on Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World, will contribute their writing expertise to the series.
Confirmed as protagonists, Harley Quinn and the Joker will take center stage in the series. Director Eri Osada emphasized that their portrayal of the Joker will deviate from previous interpretations. “Every individual has their preferred rendition of the Joker,” Osada remarked.
“Everybody has their favorite version of Joker,” Osada said. “We ultimately decided to not copy any particular iteration and have something completely unique.”
