OSHI NO KO SEASON 2 CONFIRMED ALONG WITH A TEASER TRAILER

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, it was announced that the highly anticipated second season of Oshi No Ko has been approved for production. The decision was made by the parties involved in the television anime adaptation. The first season, which concluded with its 11th episode earlier today, received widespread acclaim for its exceptional debut.

Fans can expect Oshi No Ko season 2 to faithfully continue the adaptation of the original manga series by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari. The first season stayed true to the manga’s initial volumes, and viewers are hopeful that the second season will follow suit.

Although an official release date for Oshi No Ko season 2 has not been announced yet, fans are eagerly speculating on its potential timing based on the announcement’s wording and timing. Furthermore, the release of a key visual and teaser trailer for the upcoming season has bolstered fans’ confidence that the continuation will arrive sooner rather than later.

OSHI NO KO SEASON 2 TEASER, KEY VISUAL AND MORE

Following the confirmation of Oshi No Ko season 2, a trailer was released that served as a nostalgic reflection on the first season rather than showcasing new content. The trailer primarily focused on the central characters, Ruby and Aqua Hoshino, and was accompanied by a key visual.

Regrettably, the trailer and key visual are currently the only promotional materials available for the second season. It appears that production work on the animation has not yet commenced, explaining why the trailer utilizes footage from the first season.

The series made its debut in Japan on April 12, 2023, with a 90-minute first episode. International viewers were able to stream the anime on HIDIVE, both in its original Japanese audio and with an English dub option. According to HIDIVE, the series has achieved the title of being their “number one series launch” in their history.

OSHI NO KO SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE

After the official confirmation of Oshi no Ko season 2, the main question on everyone’s mind is the release date. Unfortunately, the announcement did not provide any specific information regarding the premiere date. As a result, it is reasonable to assume that season 2 will not debut until 2024 at the earliest. While there is a possibility of a later release in the same year, this is typically the case for anime that were initially announced as split cours. Given the circumstances, it is unlikely that Oshi no Ko will follow a similar pattern.

The first season of Oshi No Ko was directed by Daisuke Hiramaki at Doga Kobo Studios. Jin Tanaka was responsible for the series’ scripts, while Kanna Hirayama designed the characters. As the production of the second season has just been green-lit, there have been no staff announcements regarding its production. However, it is widely anticipated that a majority of the staff and cast from the first season will return for their respective roles in the upcoming second season.

The original manga series was initially serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020. The manga is also available in English digitally through Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service. Yen Press publishes physical copies of the manga in English as well.
